The Presbyterian Church of Wales (PCW) is launching a new bilingual Prayer App, today, Thursday 5 March 2026.
The app, called Gweddi.Prayer, will be rich in content and updated regularly. Users will receive up to date information and prayer requests, highlighting local, national and global concerns. As well as inspiring individual prayer, the app has been designed to help local presbyteries share information and needs with their own communities.
For the first time ever, PCW friends and members will be able to pray together, digitally and in real time. This app will facilitate individual and corporate prayer, making connections across local, regional, national and international borders. It is structured around three prayer diaries: national, local and personal, with separate news and events functionalities.
Revd. Owen Griffiths, minister for the South East Wales Presbytery and who had spearheaded this project said: ‘I think that this app is the first of its kind in Wales. For the first time ever, certainly within the PCW, we are using the power of digital technology to harness the power of prayer. Immediately users open the app, they will be drawn into a landscape that is both local and international. They will be introduced to the needs and lives of fellow Christians, churches and the world itself at the swipe of a screen. Within seconds I could be sharing in prayer for the needs of Meirionydd and Manipur!
‘In many ways, the PCW has been praying digitally for quite a few years now. There are regular Zoom gatherings, where people across Wales and the world pray together. But Gweddi.Prayer takes us to a new level, where we can literally pray without ceasing, as the Bible suggests in 1 Thessalonians 5 verse 17.’
