Safeguarding Coordinators
Following the decision made from the General Assembly 2024, it is now requirement to appoint a safeguarding coordinator in your church. This is essential if you are carrying out specific work for children and vulnerable adults.
Church safeguarding coordinator
Although safeguarding is everybody’s business and it’s true that we all have a responsibility to help safeguard children and adults at risk, the most effective way to ensure that the church is fulfilling its safeguarding responsibilities and following the safeguarding policy is to have a named SAFEGUARDING COORDINATOR.

and there are some TRAINING SESSIONS for Safeguarding Coordinators. Visit Local Church Safeguarding Coordinator (panel.cymru) for more information or to to book your place. The course will mainly focus on the coordinators role and look at policy and safer recruitment requirements, the DBS process and eligibility criteria.
As this course does not focus on the signs and symptoms of abuse and how to respond, we advise that you also complete the Social Care Wales online Group A e-learning course as well as a Level 1 or 2 Panel safeguarding course to equip you to deal with safeguarding matters locally.

Training Dates
1. LEVEL 1 SESSIONS FOR VOLUNTEERS 2024 (2 hours)
We have a small team of volunteer trainers from across Wales who can deliver basic level 1 safeguarding training to volunteers in local churches. This may be face to face or virtually. They have received training and resources to ensure that the training is consistent. We hope this will increase the amount of training available. Please contact the office with your requests for training as usual.

2. LEVEL 2 SESSIONS FOR MINISTERS 2024 (6 hours)
(full day sessions or split over two consecutive mornings)
Most of our level 2 sessions are delivered over zoom by our safeguarding and training officer Julie Edwards. This is mandatory training for all ministers from the three denominations and should be repeated at least every 4 years. Please book using the links below or contact the office.
