Remarkable to think back and remember my first visit to Trefeca when John and Nerys Tudor were Wardens and the site looked very different – with the old large chapel still standing. Many changes have occurred since then, and that’s been the story of our Connexion and world especially when I look back over my Moderatorial term. Change is inevitable – we have no choice – but we do have a choice as to how to react. The same is true about this period of pandemic. When at sea as a Chaplain in the Navy a storm would arise and one didn’t know what its duration would be, but one had to find faith and strength to persevere.
We give thanks that we have a Saviour that can calm the waters and lead us to the still and secure haven.
Thanks also for the witness of the Book of Acts chapter 14 verse 17: “Yet he has not left himself without testimony: he has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.”
Let us in accordance with my Moderatorial theme trust in our God’s ability and believe “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Let us pray: O God our Father, as we face a challenging time for the health of your children and the spiritual life of our nation we pray anew for the leading of your Spirit that has kept witness alive in every generation. Even though we feel scared of the storms of life and the revelations of our weakness let us thank you for your love and steadfastness that assures us that your grace is sufficient for whatever befalls us. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
