REPAIR SHOP
I wonder if you, like me, enjoy watching the programme Repair Shop on BBC 1 at 8pm on Wednesday evenings?
Many people from across the country bring articles which have fallen into disrepair to the workshop. They can be broken, very well worn or missing an essential part and each is treasured for its history.
The Shop is a workshop which is part of a Museum where experts in all the various arts are able to restore and renew each article in an amazing way.
When the owners return to collect their treasure they can hardly believe their eyes. They are always overcome by the skill of the artists who have restored it. Tears flow, hugs are given and heartfelt gratitude. They return home with joy.
We come just as we are, with our weaknesses, failures and sins to our Lord Jesus Christ in the assurance that He alone welcomes us and is able to restore and renew us. His great love and forgiveness on the Cross restore’s us to our Father God. Jesus is alive today in His world, Church and in our hearts and nothing can ever separate us from His love. May we give Him honour and blessing and thanks never-ceasing.
A Prayer from the Iona Community:
O Christ, The Master Carpenter.
Who at the last through wood and nails,
Saved us on the cross.
Wield well your tools in the workshop of your world,
So that we, who come rough-hewn to your bench,
May be fashioned to a truer beauty by your hand.
We ask this for your name and for your sake.
Amen.
