One more step along the world I go,
One more step along the world I go;
From the old things to the new
Keep me travelling along with you:
From the old things to the new
Keep me travelling along with you.
Our Father, we come in prayer at the beginning of a New Year in the words of the hymn by Sydney Bertam Carter. We have a clean page in the diary of life for 2022. The next 12 months offer us opportunities to fill our days, as expressed so vividly in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (King James Bible – https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/):
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
As we face another year, we pray to hear your voice and to receive your wisdom and guidance in everything that we do. Your love strengthens and sustains us in what is often an uncertain world.
Coleg Trefeca faces a period of uncertainty this year as the Presbyterian Church of Wales plans for its future. We pray that the planning and discussions with others bears fruit for a bright and secure future for this very special place. We pray that Trefeca with its rich history continues to be a center of learning. We pray that Trefeca in its beautiful setting continues to be a place for retreat, for the soul to rest and to be refreshed. We pray that Trefeca continues to meet our needs today as we plan ahead and look forward to the future.
We ask this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
